So starting off at 5 degrees for the "ambient" wax temparature is more controlled than 22 degrees.

Or depends on the type of candle, it the melted wax runs down the side, it will no longer be in contact with heat and will start to cool and solidify again.

You are saying that if a candle was previously at say 5 degrees. It will take longer to get from say 40 degrees (perhaps melted but not scalding) to 60 degrees (perhaps melted and scalding. Than if the candle started at room temperature of say 20 degrees?

If you want oodles of wax at 40 degrees, you don't use a candle anyway, you use a saucepan and a thermometer.
