In all seriousness though, it's not very interesting really and that's the main problem with the whole thing.

The effects on footballing performance are certainly less serious too, it may well be different for other sports where it's just the doing of one thing (cycling, running, other stuff even more dull) but that's a central issue with the monotony of those sports.
