horrid seats, poor entertainment, etc

This was 7 years ago though, so maybe they've bought some newer planes

The cabin crew are going to sling a tray of food on your lap and, if you're lucky, bring you a drink from time to time. What else can they do?

The age of the aircraft is probably the most important thing these days. I'm flying less often with BA these days as most of their fleet has been around since Pontius was a pilot, which tends to mean little irritations like broken seats and small IFE screens.

for a well earned holiday in Malaysia.

My cousin flies on the A380 quite often and he loves it.
His only complaint is that it is so quiet you can hear most peoples conversations...

Mind you, not flown with them in ages as I tend to think anything with a british flag on it is **** by default.

Whatever the aircraft, you're still shoehorned into an aluminium tube with hundreds of other people breathing the same recycled, dried out disgusting air for hours and hours. And have you seen the people who sit in the rear of the cabin? Scum. Hundreds of them.

as since they banned smoking on flights they have halved the amount of fresh air they pump into the cabin.

The newer aircraft are much better in the area of ventilation.

than the filth in 'economy' (3rd class).

For a start we don't have diets comprised exclusively of fried MRM and fizzy lager, which makes our breath much more fragrant.

More to the point, how was Peter? I've visions of him waking up with large chunks of the night missing

are just subjective, aren't they? Him and the band were proper on it, the set list was amazing, great atmosphere... but the sound wasn't really sorted, which detracted a little for me. (Only a little.)

As for 'best'... anyone who was at Wembley on 4th July 85 would laugh at the idea. Or someone who was at The Stone Pony in 76, or one of the legendary Filmore West shows from 78

Put it this way, to see a band fronted by a 63 year old play a three and a half hour set that had 73,000 people dancing and crying in turn is a remarkable thing, but I've seen him do it maybe 25 times now, so I'm not surprised buy it.

In two weeks he's playing Hyde Park Calling at the Olympic Park. I've booked us a room at Claridges that night so we can hang around the foyer and bump into him :cloud9:

Oh, and 25 times is an exageration, I think. 20?

A) before you can even go to the passport check they will ask you a ridiculous amount of questions. Such as what you do for a living, do you have any electrical items on you that you have bought in the last 6 months. They asked me for a business card. I asked what is this all in aid of? It's American Airlines policy.

B) They do another random security search at the actual gate.. They picked out my girlfriend and it's embarrassing to be honest. their excuse ' at least you can feel fully confident we've taken these security procedures.

C) I flew on a 777 but it was bit crappy. the entertainment was basic and the headphone socket didn't work correctly.

D) staff were pleasant on the flight but vanished after a while halfway through.

I thought United were bad but they are amazing compared to American Airlines imo. I Will not fly them again.

There were a couple of miseries in front of us who remained seated, until v hauled them to their feet and instructed them to dance. And dance they did!

Our seats were quite **** but the sheer joy in the faces of everyone around us was amazing.

Hyde Park in two weeks. There are tickets available, apparently...

Switzerland that weekend but am trying to re-arrange. I need another hit.

We got mobbed when he announced darkness becauseabout 50 people had come up and asked about the factory sign. About 15 of us stood and listened to factory in silence, arms linked, with me and jerry in the midfle. Amazing and funny at the same time.

I only actually blubbed during racing and thunder road. Couldnt help myself :-)
