Andre Santos unhappy with Arsenal return
Arsenal news: Andre Santos wanted to stay at Gremio and not return to the Gunners
Arsenal defender Andre Santos is said to be unhappy about his return to London after spending six months on loan in Brazil with Gremio.
The defender joined Arsenal back in the summer of 2011 from Turkish side Fenerbache, but never really lived up to his high expectations after being the Brazilian number-one left-back.
Santos was used regularly during Kieran Gibbs' injury, but come January, manager Arsene Wenger, finally lost patience with the 30-year-old and decided to sign a replacement to cover Gibbs' injury.
Wenger turned to Spanish defender Nacho Monreal and he went straight into the first-team to cover Gibbs and that was all-but the end of Santos' Arsenal career.
No sooner than Monreal entered the Emirates Stadium, Santos departed from the stadium and flew back to his home-land in order to join Gremio on loan until the end of the season.
Santos enjoyed his loan spell in Brazil but admitted that the club couldn't afford to buy him on a permanent basis, so that meant he had to return to England and return to Arsenal.
Talking to a radio station about his loan-spell and his future, Santos revealed that he wanted to stay longer at Gremio because he enjoyed it there.
He also said that he was unhappy that a deal couldn't be finalised between the two clubs and unhappy at the thought of returning to Arsenal.
He told Radio Gre-Nal: "My loan deal is over. It was six months long and now I am returning. Gremio had an agreement with Arsenal and I have to return."
Santos added: "I wanted to stay. Gremio were fair regarding everything. I felt well there and I wanted to win a title before leaving.
"Unfortunately there is no deal and I had to return to Arsenal."
