As the sun's out I'm minded to throw a couple of steaks on the barbie. I've never tried a dry rub, anyone have a favoured combination?

Nothing but fresh, coarsely ground pepper and kosher salt .. with a smidge of garlic powder. :nod:
You could go with some fennel seeds, but it's a slippery slope. Best to stick with the basic to let the flavour of the steak come out.
Apply at least 1/2 hour before you throw them on. That way the salt has enough time to interact with the meat and tenderize.

This is wonderful for steaks. Learned about it from an honest to god green bay packer. (not the player, he's a meatpacker in green bay.)
