I used to struggle, but found a method to totally disregard whether or not the chap next to me has started. I now always have the upper hand, and it is immenseley satisfatory to not only get going, but also finish before the feller next to me has managed to squeeze out as much as a drop.

There are people that are in posession of the lack of shyness in public bogs superpower. Those that, even though they're well aware that someone is sitting in the bog beside them, will shamelessly go for a masssive, noisy dump.
