You do get the feeling that Martin writes himself up blind alleys, actually. He had clearly failed to realise that a crippled kid is a narrative dead end, obviously has no idea what to do with Sansa, killed off a bunch of characters who actually moved the story forward and therefore had to introduce the whole reanimation nonsense to reintroduce them (which is a total cheat).

In short: I'm pretty sure the old fraud has no idea what he's doing.
