View Full Version : If it was 1970 you could f**k off to Vegas, order yourself a shrimp cocktail

and a veal cordon bleu, and watch Elvis while you ate. Elvis, for the love of God.
Life must have been good back then.

late middle-aged lady dressed in bike leathers who kept touching me unnecessarily. It was still good, though. It came with chips, of course.

best of the budget wons imo.
Plenty offering $1.00 wons
The Wynn had one for $14 and it was tremendous.

Lots of those 70s classics are simply perfect. Chicken Kiev, Chicken a la King, Veal parmegiana, these things are all wonderful.

I've never had the courage to try and cook a proper Chicken Kiev. Have you? I remember it being the first thing I ever ate in a proper restaurant and thinking it was immeasurably sophisticated and wonderful. I'm not sure I was wrong.

It really is awfully tricky to create the pocket and keep the garlic butter sealed therein whilst deep frying.
I wonder if we mightn't make it a new challenge?
They're the delicious, home-made wons with the skins left on.

An ironic mixture of 21st century tasting menu and 1970s classics:
A suggestion of prawn cocktail
Mini Kievs
Baby veal cordon bleus
Steaklets au poivre
Black Forest slivers

There is nothing to whet the appetite more effectively than a good pile of chips. Stacking them up just means you get fewer and they're probably cold.

Plus it doesn't involve pulling a pig's head apart, which is a major plus for me in any recipe these days.

And loads and loads of breadcrumbs and vegetable oil. But it could be good.
Crinkle cut chips?

Peter Lawford, while a zero personality, served a valuable purpose by attracting the broads.
Joey would go fetch the booze and ice, most likely, plus make do with the fat friends of the swell-looking broads.

Mention the word pomegranate at a bar and you would be "escorted" from the premises.
