can I ask why ?

to simply transfer files from one disk to another and reinstall in a Sky box use copy+

http://www.skycopyplus.co.uk/

you'll need a sata to usb adapter

doesn't want to lose.

I had a DVD recorder that I used to copy these programmes i.e. play them and use the recorder to copy on to a DVD. The DVD recorder is however not working so I thought of using the method of copying to a laptop and use its DVD recording facilities to create a DVD

but if they are encrypted programmes (ie from Sky channels) you are pissing in the wind unless you had a NDS cam and good knowledge of RSA algorithmic public/private key encryption.

in other words - shove your old hard drive in your new box watch all the programmes and then stick the hard drive you got with your new box back in. You will invalidate the box's warranty by doing this.
