Does anyone apart from Liam Gallagher still revert to the traditional "Longbowman's Salute" in times of great crisis?

Have we all become continental dandies happy to flash 'the finger' at a moment's notice, but ashamed of our historic sign of defiance?

Just asking after I reverted to the V sign in protest at a speeding German BMW driver – it's always a BMW – who jumped a light and almost knocked me off my bike. Being German he smiled glibly and then waved back as if to an old acquaintance he should know, but couldn't quite place...
