If they want to let play continue, fine. But the guy who is offside can't then become part of the play, let alone score the goal!

In hockey, if you are offside play continues, but you have to skate outside the blue line to put yourself back onside. You can't keep hanging around the goal. That's the deceiving part.

The equivalent would be for Mandzukic to turn back away from goal and go outside the 18 yard line before returning.
