Firstly whilst Vermaelen had a bit of mare last season I still rate him. Is Williams the answer? He would be a good addition but how about having both?
As for Benteke please no & certainly not at £20 or £25m, yes he had A good season but I'm not convinced.
Funny thing is that he is the sort of player Wenger signs first time up to take a gamble on.
I hope this is just speculation....

very hard for Vermaelen though as captain to be out of the team but there is a very good example here in Germany, where Sebastian Kehl is captain of Dortmund but has lost his place to the quite wonderful Sven Bender and Ilkay Gundogan. He is a bit older though

Not really seen a lot of Benteke but the whole good for one season thing bothers me as well

easy is it as opposed to the open games that Villa have played in. Not really true is it. Easy just to quote stats but try taking a look at his all round game and the amount of goals the players around him have got before making a judgement

is far easier, have the ball far more than Villa, and have better players than Villa so he wont be marked as tightly as Benteke makes his job a lot easier

he was at Liverpool. From a footballing point of view, it is disappointing that he hasn't quite fulfilled his talent. Still remarkable effective at times though
