The Hilton Waldorf remains the most fiercely appalling experience of my hotelling. To take an institution like the Waldorf and turn it into a soulless excuse for a 5 star hotel is little short of criminal. The Hilton group really is the most hideous corporate entity.

when it comes to cheap hotels but I wasn't really expecting anything special. it was pretty **** but it gave it's charm.

The problem with Hilton is and other similar chains they have this stupid superior 5 star mentality. When they are all paid a pittance they really need to drop the attitude imo.

I stay in the west end a couple of times a month. When I'm feeling tight, it's the Strand Palace at £150. Other times it's the Savoy at £400. The do an equally good job at their respective levels.

Had a business meeting come up last-minute during Mardi Gras, so it was all there was. By the airport, not renovated since opened (at least at the time), and general debauchery and associated activity in the vicinity.

the walls were literally running with water, the beds were drenched and there was fungus growing on the bathroom floor.
