is that they both wanted out of Pirez's circus of clowns.
Apparently there was a clause in Jose's contract whereby 17m compensation could be called on if another club wanted him.
So making himself unpopular with the management and the afficiendo
at the Bernabeu helped to avoid that situation.

On another note those pictures of our losers celebrating finishing fourth, as though they had just done the double, were very cringeworthy. But also very symptomatic of where we are these days in the greater scheme of things
