The problem is my wife wants to stay at something really traditional, preferably a castle :yikes: this will bloody cost a fortune I am sure
:hehe:
Anyway, if any of you know of a good place in beautiful Scotland then please tell me about it

Nasty buggers, and partly why I avoid rural Scotland.

Seriously - absolutely brilliant when I went there on a walking holiday. Sorry I can't recommend a castle but lots of them about up there. Enjoy.

Btw - you are aware that the sweaties are on school holibobs in July? Might make booking difficult...not all of em come to Cornwall or go to Lanzarote.

Hence my sweeping policy of giving the whole place a swerve.
Try this though:

(great walking around Loch Lomond from there), and Isle of Skye were what I remember best. Also we stayed in Edinburgh and Inverness, (met trigger from Only Fools when staying in Station Hotel at Inverness). Great scenery and walks around both.

known as Scotland in miniature as has mountains/forests/beaches although only about fifty miles round.
full of walkers and cyclists whenever I've been there playing golf.
there is a castle although you can't stay there. plenty of hotels/good quality b&b's, Auchranie is the place if the wife wants a bit of 5 star luxury.
there with the family myself in august

Midges and mosquitoes thick as clouds. Especially on the west coast.
