When Bill - one of our flying syndicate members - passed away we got the RAF to do a Spitfire flypast at his funeral.

Bill was a fighter pilot during the Battle of Britain.

I had a great-uncle who fought in Jutland aged 14 & fought Rommel as a Desert Rat in WW2 - what I wouldn't give to be able to talk to him now :-(

Sadly he passed away aged only 26.

Saw his flight log for the mission....nothing heroic. Very mundane...but on the following page it simply read...."Awarded the VC".....

24 Years old and he is awarded the VC.
