From my GCE Maths calculations Wigan won a total of 3.397m for their FA Cup triumph and we ermmmmm earned 2.30m for Barca winning La Liga and Hull being promoted :-( Weird.

On the contrary, I quite like the parallels with real life business, where someone can arrive out of nowhere and blow the rest out of the water. I am slightly uncomfortable about artificial tampering such as FFP. Think I prefer to keep it real.

You just happen, or happen not, to be jewish.

Either way, you are to blame for this sorry mess.

I get investment, no problem there. But where else in business does somebody gift billions with no real hope or expectation of getting it back?

If anything, the united model concerns me more. It just doesnt feel right for a ludicrously wealthy club to be plunged into debt by a takeover.

Many fans of lower league club would find our own financial model deeply "wrong", i.e. taking on a huge stadium debt, paying huge wages to unremarkable players, and leaning on the fans to pay for it all with the most expensive ticket prices in the world.

I mean, have you ever seen the headline act with cigarette lighters out for the opening act?

He was talking about the extra monies we've received from other clubs success being of a similar order of magnitude to the monies Wigan received for their FA Cup success.

To which someone might add the following:

"Yeah, and hopefully we'll relegate them tonight - a fate that might, if it happens, be related to their progress in the FA Cup."

To which someone might further reply that "It just goes to show that it's not just us that are obsessed with league position rather than silverware"

To which that Pleat fellow will remind us, yet again, in case we'd forgotten from the time he mentioned it in his previous post, that the superiority of smaller clubs means they'll always value a cup win over league positions.

And so on forever.

My point really was just that Curly deserved a little acknowledgement for his Quite Interesting little factoid.

In fairness AshWIMB there looked very similar to AWIMB, only a good deal more polite.

who end up being bought by clubs as big as Barcelona, we are able to demand such contractual clauses.

It is not as if smaller clubs are singularly unable to benefit like this. I believe Southampton have similar clauses for Bale and Walcott...?
