at home soon after, 3 days after a gruelling uefa cup tie.

They also drew with Everton at home and Wigan (?) away.

Man Utd). If you were going to be charitable towards them, you could say that they have been unlucky for us to have maintained such consistent results since they beat us.

So if we do manage it, then their loss of form will no doubt have helped. They regained it at the wrong time though. http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/ohwell.gif

and it was likely going to be a close-ish call between us and them for 4th.

In a 38 game season, it is foolish to try and pinpoint matches or runs where it was won or lost. Fortunes will always fluctuate but sides tend to finish where they ought to by the end of it.

We were never likely to finish higher than 3rd or lower than 5th, despite where we may have sat at various points in the season.

I mean this group of players and modified tactics didn't really begin to come into their own until the turn of the year, or thereabouts.

If we get more points than them then we deserve to finish above them, irrelevant how we won our points, same goes for them

There may be a window of opportunity, but in my opinion all three have to have poorish seasons for us to challenge seriously.

I know others would disagree.

On a similar note, I've decided that if we ever did introduce a Winter break in England, the Premier League would win the European Cup every year.

It must be great to essentially play two short seasons, rather than one f**k-off long one, and our record in that competition is pretty damn good already.

So, no chance then :-)
