1) We knew after we beat QPR that there was a realistic chance of needing to win both our last two games to make CL football

2) Wigan will only have 72 hours between the cup final while we'll have had 10 days rest.

3) If we beat Wigan, Newcastle are safe meaning that they will have little motivation for the last game.

4) If there is money coming this summer...IF, we will need CL football in order to make good use of it.

5) Sunderland still need a result next weekend.

6) It is still in our hands

8) yes, we know all of this, and its wonderful. The frustration is that it could have been so much easier but for a succession of late goals. We are now being given an excellent chance of f**king it up.

It's an extra £30-40m.

There won't be a hole in our revenue next year compared to this if we miss out on the CL. The new premier league tv deal will cover it.

And we won one of them. Tht is roughly how many i would expect to win.

Of the four remaining, they looked winnable but spread over fouryears it isnt exactly a shock that we f**ked up in four random games.

I admit that the cup ties are strange but that was probably just about us.

In other words, it is a statistical freak and means nothing. We should beat wigan easily.

But since we played each other, we have taken 20 out of 24 points. They have taken 15 out of 27... That has taken it from being in their hands into our hands. Pretty sure we would have all taken this after that game with them in March.
