View Full Version : I think the dayshift is far too civil. Does anyone fancy having a nemesis?

It'd involve meekly threatening each other, assigning 'insulting' nicknames to one another and proposing to meet in person for a duel.

Any takers?

Staying in York centre for the first couple of nights and might head out to the coast, Bridlington perhaps, at some stage. Where else is worth visiting in that neck of the woods?

If you want some coast action you cant do better than Whitby, my tip would be to take the coach tour with the brassy old lady, she's ace. There's also Sands End and Runswick Bay nearby, both are gorgeous. Further afield there's Brid and Scarborough, the pavilion has some excellent events on.

If you want something more countrified, and more importantly you have a car, get over into the dales for a visit to Theakston's Brewery, they do a lovely roast. You can also combine that with the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes which is cheese heaven. The countryside around there is wonderful.

It's worth it, if nothing else, then being able to say "Me and the wife went to Hawes this weekend" when somebody asked what you've been up to.

Also, any decent towns to visit - be nice to see some of the old industrial stuff, even if it's just a drive by (yes we have a car).

I had the privilage of going round Murray's Mills in Ancoats before the redevelopment started (through work) - fabulous building. St Peter's church round the corner was worth the look too.

Keep going the f**k up to Newcastle. It's quaint, but it hasn't been relevant for several hundred years. Has more than it's fair share of these f**kers on a Saturday night, too:

so should avoid all that.

Newcastle is a visit for another time. I had a brief appearance there a few years ago and am keen to return.

benito carbone was the last holder of that title.

Also, park by Lendal Bridge is nice and so is the Yorkshire Museum inside it. The Theatre Royal is also rather good for a provincial theatre.

No hills and everybody goes around on bikes.

Mind you, for someone who moved to a beautiful, expansive and diverse country and then chose to live somewhere so polluted that playing in the park can give you cancer, are you really the best guide?

Where do you live in joisey?

They're essentially the nightshift edition of Berni and Sir C, minus the turgid/charming old world grandiloquence.
