Then I watched Rambo which, if anything, was far worse than I remember. Terrific amounts of blast injuries.

I can find Wes Anderson's work to be a bit twee, but MK is stellar

I know what you mean, I loved Rushmore, The Life Aquatic and Fantastic Mr Fox but the others I'm not so keen on.
