. "German clubs are not interested in having a lot of possession Instead the teams use speed and energy and are constantly looking to score goals."
It must be said that they are not bad on set pieces and corners either.
Both BM and Dortmund scored a few goals from them in the European Cup semi-finals against the Spanish sides.

Keeping the ball? Where did that theory ever get anyone?

Both Brian and Dortmund are in the top five for posession stats in europe and in the top two in their own league.

The greater the possession, the more likely the team is to win. It's as simple as that.

they always do whatever it is better than most. If playing 4-4-2 and hoofing the ball forward were the fashion, they'd do that better than most too.

If Swindon Town hired Gward and won the European Cup playing tiki-taka, you might have a point.

I don't watch much German football, but when I have done,I can't say that I have ever noticed any resemblance to tika taka in their style of play .
It will be interesting to see how Pep gets on in Deutschland ,with no Messi and dodgy doping to help out :rubchin:

Pep has already been excellent for marketing the Bundesliga but personally, I don't give him very long. A couple of years maybe.

Not necessarily as reflection on him but more that the modern young coach doesn't tend to stay anywhere too long.

And, frankly, unless he's winning the European Cup every season, Bayern don't really need him.

Southampton too, to a certain extent.

I'm not saying playing a possession based style will guarantee you'd win, far from it. Just that you won't get very far if you keep giving the ball away.
