Shannon Hames, 19, and Gemma Harman, 26, were accused of shoving Suzanne Chapman to the ground and repeatedly kicking and punching her outside the Darwin Social Club in Darwin Close last October.
Around 80 people attended the fundraising male strip show organised by the sisters’ mother Lisa Hames, who admitted there was “no love lost” between the families who used to live in the same street.
Both the accused insisted they were sober and denied attacking Ms Chapman after she went outside with her sister Charmaine, having twice thrown up in the toilet and on the floor of the club.
Ms Harman, who was on the door, said she had only had two lemonades to drink and had gone outside after receiving a call on her radio to say there was a girl being sick.
She told Reading Magistrates Court: “I asked if she was okay and I said she had to move because she was right by the fire exits and everybody would be coming out to smoke soon because the show was finishing.”
Ms Harman said they picked her up and Charmaine tried to walk her sister to the entrance of the site where a taxi was due to collect her, but fell over a plant pot and then a speed bump.
She said: “Quite a few of the ladies were laughing at her because she kept falling over. Any pothole or speed bump she would fall over.
“I walked behind her all the way because she was in that much of a state, but I kept my distance.”
Ms Hames said she had only drunk a cola as she was driving home, and when asked if she had kicked Ms Chapman while she was lying on the ground, she said: “I wouldn’t do something like that. I’m not a violent person.”
Lisa Hames, who was accused of wading into the fight but was not charged, said neither she nor her daughters had assaulted Suzanne and claimed Suzanne was shouting abusively at Charmaine to leave her alone. :hehe: :hehe: :homer: :titsup: :hehe:
