View Full Version : Van persie was morally wrong to leave arsenal? Had such an arguement with my friends about this.

He owed us a new contract IMO.

we should not have waited a year before the contract ended to start talks with someone like that. We were still right to sell him as 24 million for 29 year old long term is good money. In end we used money to bring in quality such as santi, giroud and pod

although he would have scored the goals that would have delivered us a trophy this season, the upset is that he just didnt want to, he would have put more in his pocket as a free agent but his heart wasnt in it and he presented Arsene with a dilemma right at the point that we were negotiating on all fronts, after Arsenal gave him a career and kept faith whilst suspended and injured and poured millions in wages etc into his bank account, as soon as he starts to realise his potential ..he's off and saying we lack ambition- if we lacked ambition we would have crocked his arse and sent him back to Holland - he owes us BIG STYLE.

was very disrespectful to the club given him eight good years. fine if you want to leave but show the club some respect.

(assuming Arsenal wouldn't go higher than 120k a week for wages, while United were offering 250)

Morally to the fans but sadly no morals when money is concerned these days...

Probably would've won the league with him....At least we got some money and know where we have to strengthen for next season...not sure about the lad from Fiorentina...want someone with a deadlier strikerate.....Cavani will cost us but if we win the league then it's worth it.

Football is virtually devoid of all ethical consideration, being a particularly unpleasant manifestation of capitalist greed.

Not sure how you can muster perpetual outrage and surprise at this cycle, especially as we benefit from the moral vacuum as much as any other top club.

Why should such a good player finish his career trophyless because the players around him aren't on his level? He was injured for long periods through no fault of his own, but that doesn't mean he should jeapordise his chance of success.

There is no loyalty in football. club will cast away an underperforming player without a second thought, players will look out for number one
