View Full Version : I might not be a fan of Redflag, but I have to applaud his list of reasons reminding us why we hate

United. Well, some of us. Others here seem quite keen on them.

I have taken the trouble to bullet-point his list so that the formatting looks nice, as a mark of respect for his opinions.

Quote:

I can recall the old jock refusing to allow the league trophy to be presented to us at Old Trafford when we won it there .
Liverpool allowed the ceremony to take place when we won the title at Anfield in 89, so there was a tradition involved in that, SAF ignored it though as he does with anything that doesn't fit his own agenda.
Then we have our unbeaten run that was ended by Ferguson's thuggery , and a dodgy penalty awarded by his pal Mike Riley that time. Who can forget Horsehead doing GBH on Cashley in that game, and other incidents on our players that took place that were ignored by match officials.
There was also the Scholes brutality on Reyes at Villa in the FAC semi-final. Ferguson was actually seen on TV whispering instructions to the ginger dwarf, while pointing at Reyes ,just before sending his hatchet man on.Ferguson also advised other managers players to kick our ones at that period in time when we were his main rivals. That certainly cost us a title win one season away to Fat Sam's crew.

You could use United beating a local side to the title for an excuse to clap them out ,if it had occurred, by claiming that it was to wind up Chelsea or spuds, but anyone who applauds Ferguson and his players on Sunday is a fool , and that includes Wenger.

There might be some supposition here, but I suspect the claims against AF are true, and basically agree that this is a good basis for a grudge. I don't know why he calls AW a hypocrite, probably for the same reason that he calls Arsene's supporters 'self-appointed apologists' as if they should have been appointed by someone else.

However, that was then, and while I would never applaud them for narrowly beating us by unfair means, it really doesn't apply this year. I don't know if they've had more than their share of lucky decisions or if some of Fergie's acolyte managers (who he seems to think he owns - see Pardew v srlxfgsn) have taken it easy against them, as some claim, but the size of their league title win is so large that any good fortune or influence is likely to be marginal. They've won the league because they've done for the whole season what we've managed to do for the last few weeks, and because the chasers have all been a bit crap at times.

So, this year, I have no problem with our club formally saluting the champions. In motor racing it is normal for all spectators to applaud the winner, whoever it is, and in other sports too. I don't think it will do our chances of beating them on the pitch on Sunday any harm, and the fans can either applaud or not applaud as they see fit. Personally I will probably do what I usually do and have another quick pint at 2.30 and get to my seat 20 seconds after kick off.

There was no option in 89 as it was the last day of the season. When there is a home game afterwards, they will always wait until then. We weren't presented it when we won at WHL either. Dis Suralex stop that as well?

and a title decider - there was no option but to give out the trophy. The United one was neither of these and the team winning the league picks up the trophy at the last home game of the season. Surprisingly Redflag talks a load of ****e

Act with class, act with dignity and do things properly. As David Rocastle said "Remember who you are, what you are and who you represent.".

Sralxfrgsn is a small minded, bitter and petty man. I'd like to think we wouldnt sink to his level and deny them the guard of honour, regardless of how deserving they are.

the Prem wanted to do the cup presentation at Old Trafford if we won the title there , but Ferguson refused to allow it.
