Numbers leave Gunners short
Those inside the Arsenal boardroom play a very interesting numbers game with the sale of Robin van Persie.

They factor in his wages, his transfer fee, the players bought with that resource, and calculate what a good deal it was from a financial perspective.
Arsenal are far from guaranteed a place in next season’s Champions League as yet and on Sunday the players will form a guard of honour for Van Persie and his Manchester United team-mates, now celebrating a 20th title.

Maybe United will pay similar tribute to Arsenal’s balance sheet

I wonder if Martin is so free with his own money. Has he bought any of y'all a pint?

(mind you we didn't reinvest in a 2nd striker so it will serve the board right if they lose the champs lge dosh)

("whilst ignoring the fact that he asked to leave and forced his way out whilst keeping the price lower than it should've been")

Such a clever writer, don't you think? I do so enjoy the way he has taken a complex issue there and completely simplified it. He's taken all the mystery away and left an argument simple enough for simple people, whilst giving the impression of being somehow 'clever'.

Woodward and Bernstein must be ****ting themselves.

subsequent and almost-daily crowing about how well we did out of the deal, and how no trophy in the world could match the sense of satisfaction and achievement derived from such an astute business transaction.

Certainly, the open top bus parade to celebrate the deal that I believe the board are genuinely considering could be considered by some as a step too far.

so long as we qualify for next year's European Cup. I don't actually think Robin left us at all; I think we sold him.

In fact, even if we don't finish in the top four, Wenger has had the freedom to re-model His forward line without a superstar striker clogging up the place. Manchester United got their man and their title back and we got a stack of cash.

Everyone's a winner.

*So far as we know the price, I mean, of course.
