There seems to be a general thread where fans of the more, ahem, anglo saxon game are using Bayern's victory last night as a vindication of the more robust, less technical game.

You know the one, the distrust of "sideways passes" and swarthy midgets and the glorification of the "big lad".

In the whole of europe Barca lead the way this season in terms of possession and pass accuracy. In second place for both of these are Bayern.

Plus ca change imo, the fact remains that to succeed at this level requires the ability to patiently keep possession for long periods.

Set my target at 75 and now sitting nicely between 74 and 76, being quite disciplined during the week and pigging out at weekends. Back on the bike this week though, that should give me a little in hand for some treats. Scary how easily it creeps up though, isn't it?

bayern play possession game with more penetration than barca, so there is a clear difference between the way the two play, and i find the bayern game more entertaining.

barca at their best had eto, messi and henry up front and had a great amount of pace and penetration......however they have become more and more pedestrian and unless messi plays they look toothless and very boring nowdays, even they recognize that....

alot of us admire the tiki taka version of 2009....not the 2012/2013 version and certainly not the way spain play, who bore their way to 1-0 victories

arsene wenger's version is closer to the current tiki taka rather than the more explosive and exiting version with eto', henry and messi, thats why we wlc bayerns embarrassment of barca, hoping that wenger realises the limits of this game.
