View Full Version : Much as it hurts, RvP made the correct decision when he left

However, he was a cripple with us for several years and the club looked after him, had one great season and then ***ced off without any hesitation, he way of thanking the club I guess

contract?

Until we step up to the plate and challenge this is the risk we take

Some 'fans' need to MTFU , or maybe just mature a bit.

It's completely naive to think that professional footballers won't go to a new employer that gives them a better chance of honours.

FFS, 'we' creamed our pants over recruiting Sol and winning things with him in the side yet have a waaaaaaaaaaaaah  over RvP, Nasri, etc etc going to Manchester and winning the title.

best move he could have made at this stage of his career

£0m and he doesn't put any effort as he wants to avoid injuries for future move

Yes I agree, we need to step up, I just feel frustrated that he never considered a move while he was cripple for 7 years, he way of a thank you I guess.

We just have to accept it and move on

players have left and won trophies immediately

Shows how good Wenger is that he finds and develops players who are good enough to play for the world's best teams.

trophies and money.

I do hope having to give United a guard of honour will give certain people at the club a bit of kick up the backside!

kind, believe that RvP would much rather have won the title with Arsenal. They might well be right, but his desire to win something was stronger than his desire to stay with Arsenal.

various clubs around the world. You may as well call Milners old manager a credit for the same reason.

telling how we always have a player who one of the richest clubs in the world wants eh?

as someone has pointed out above, I think he would have stayed if we were constantly challenging, problem is we haven't

a player of his ability deserved to win a title so good luck to him , as much as its sad to see him do it in those colours

of course the money will have been a factor but i firmly believe not the most important one either , to retire with one f a cup and a world cup runners up medal would have been an injustice for a player of his ability and i feel he was left with no alternative but to leave in the end

i dont buy into this one season wonder lark either , of course he was injured a lot but he consistently scored goals for us whenever fit and with greater cover in that area (as indeed in defence) im sure he d have picked up at least a couple of titles with us and probably still be with us now

i reckon fergie must have been rolling around in bed laughing at our decision to sell them to him and until the club decides to grow some cajones im afraid nothing is abnout to change any time soon and we ll be left to whip ourselves into a frenzy about a 4th place chase and finishing above spurs (who we used to finish 30+ points above not so long ago)

The way he went about leaving was unfortunate and some what unprofessional imo

but i think in his heart he wanted to stay and win things with us but just realised or was convinced that under the present regime this wasnt going to happen :-(

In the same way that we could easily attract players from Fulham

Small clubs cant keep their top players. we shouldn't be there but we are thanks to the "self sustaining model". Its a fact so I accept it although I dont like it. One, or more if no cl football, of our "stars" will be sold this summer. FACT.

how about some loyalty. Who says we wouldn't have won somethig had he stayed? You like me can't say for sure either way.

it's not as if he was born next to the ground, he owes us nothing

than us so he took it, his last big contract so it was basically now or never... if he'd wanted to f**k us up he'd have said he will see his contract out and leave for nothing

the bit i missed was when he went from two seasons ago banging in goals for us from being "one of the best strikers in the world" to signing for united and becoming "an injury prone one season wonder" almost overnight

The same sort of model that saw milner leave leeds for pennies because leeds had to sell him as they were in financial meltdown?

Wenger sold RVP because of the demands he was making , and Wenger did not like it, it was not down to money and Wenger arranged the transfer himself.
