but on what we do, otherwise we wouldn't buy/watch it and the makers of these products would go bust, see?

Footage or it didn't happen - basic rule of tv news imo.

which is that the world loves us and all is well now that Obama is President. Obama using drones is "cool" because he's so gosh darned cool.

I bet you haven't heard about the abortion doctor who has murdered hundreds of live babies, now on trial in Philly. Again, doesn't fit the template.

one about the dead Chinese student. That's just how news works. 'Dead Belgians don't count' and all that.

Our respective family and friends. Everyone else dies for our gratuitous, macabre entertainment.

Show me a man who claims otherwise and I'll show you a liar.

look and sound like me and my family and friends and their city looks a bit like mine too. That's why the media cover it and not Iraqi deaths.

tends not to involve actual Iraqis but rather people like us.

Prosperous, sophisticated, well-dressed, articulate London/New York/Paris socialites who went back "home" and liked to pretend to be Afridi warriors or whatever and enjoyed discussing the rights of man and things like political pluralism.

We foreign officials and press laughed at them because they clearly weren't dirty or incomprehensible enough to be REAL freedom fighters. They couldn't get any airplay at all.
