I went to a funeral last week, my Mum's uncle.

Someone who had always been involved as we grew up and the last one of that generation left in my family.

It was the first funeral I have been to in a church, the vicar gave a long talk about what sort of man he was and stories about him growing up. Totally different to what I have experienced at crematoriums. I was in pieces.

speak so fondly about someone who is now dead is really hard to hear. Kind of makes you realise how precious life is.

Though when we finished there, we had to go to the crematorium a couple of miles away, I could have done without that and just gone straight to the pub like the non-family people did.

If its Jewish, it's standard practice for the son to read some hebrew bull****, which I would be VERY reluctant to do, for obvious reasons.

They seemed to be dealing with it better than anyone else.

But then I guess they have been grieving for the last 10 days whilst sorting everything else as well. I hadn't really grieved until I arrived there.
