I mean, I like spirits (mostly as they get you pissed, fast, not because of the taste though some do taste less ****ty than others which is the best that could be said) but seriously, scotch tastes like it should be used for some sort of industrial process and coloured blue in case somebody might drink it.

I was just trying to paint myself as a *****.

He sounded like a **** too.

I just dont get the liking of scotch, especially as it seems almost entirely predicated on the basis that the fouler ostensibly it tastes the more scotch people like it.

It would appear your beverage choices are as immature as your sexual preferences.

If you like some whiskies then you will almost certainly find a few Scotches that you like, a lot more variety than other types I would say.

I think you're talking about the current trend for ever more heavily peated whisky. Now, I don't mind them at all but I can see how people wouldn't be keen. And the obsession with it is getting a little tiresome.

also makes it a bit easier to get used to. Personally, I prefer it neat but will occasionally have it with water

We are butter based, they are olive and olive oil based. In everything.

I keep getting plied with them by my father in law,

"Ooooh you'll like this one, it's seventy years old"

 "Can I just have a cup of tea please?"

The irony is, of course, that he drinks his tea piss weak and makes a big fuss every time I ask for two tea bags.

Normally shows up as a more vanilla-y flavour imo.

Scotch doesn't necessarily smell and taste of scotch anymore. I have a fair few that I honestly enjoy very much indeed.

If I'm drinking raw spirit, I'm already pissed and have stopped caring.

Cocktails on the other hand, are joyous things and to be cherished.

*The exception is brandy, which is marvellous.

He's been doing it for nigh on 13 years now, when is it supposed to taste good?

Those of us truly secure in our heterosexuality will drink any number of drinks with umbrellas in.

That said, I do draw the line at Pina Coladas as they make me think of spunk :-(

Frimmers

out then you can get away with pretty much anything. Even rose wine*.

A Bloody Mary would be the exception - the only alcoholic drink it's really acceptable to drink whilst wearing your jim-jams.

*As long as you are a woman, of course.
