View Full Version : Just walking along the street and I see a man and woman grappling with each other

From a distance it's clear that it's not a mugging, as if anything the woman is trying to get something out of the hands of the man.

I get closer and the man starts begging me to call the police, saying he can't let her into the house (it was the keys that she was trying to get from him). Then I notice a baby in a pram. Clearly a custody fight gone wrong :-(

Anyway, police are on their way. Good deed done for the day.

The woman, not the baby in the pram...

By the way if you are unsure about your abilty to defend yourself you can always ask Viva or myself for Martial Art lessons. We're both blackbelts in Ghettojitsu.

Ghettojitsu....The way of the Ghetto

It is the old true Martial Art in the world.

have should be put aside for the baby's sake and dealt with amicably.

Then I thought about the small possibility that interfering could compromise my personal safety and decided to leave it in the hands of the professionals (even though I secretly reckon I could have got them inside to talk about their problems calmly over a nice cup of tea).

Just ten minutes ago I was a major protagonist, with a man begging me to help him. Now I feel like a soap opera character killed off after one episode :-(

I guess the police could always call me back and ask for a witness account :cloud9:

Must have been a fúcking nightmare to get those three to sit down to do the Myers-Briggs test.

Then I read something this and though "oh, hang on. I recognise that" :

INTPs are quiet, thoughtful, analytical individuals who tend to spend long periods of time on their own, working through problems and forming solutions. They are curious about systems and how things work. Consequently, they are frequently found in careers such as science, philosophy, law, psychology, and architecture. INTPs tend to be less at ease in social situations or in the "caring professions", although they enjoy the company of those who share their interests. They prize autonomy in themselves and others. They generally balk at attempts by others to convince them to change. They also tend to be impatient with the bureaucracy, rigid hierarchies, and the politics prevalent in many professions. INTPs have little regard for titles and badges, which they often consider to be unnecessary or unjustified. INTPs usually come to distrust authority as hindering the uptake of novel ideas and the search for knowledge. INTPs accept ideas based on merit, rather than tradition or authority. They have little patience for social customs that seem illogical or that obstruct the pursuit of ideas and knowledge. This may place them at odds with people who have an SJ preference, since SJs tend to defer to authority, tradition, and what the rest of the group is doing.[2] INTPs prefer to work informally with others as equals.[11]

Reading a few of the other types and looking for matches there helps with the perspective.

There are certain weaknesses with the whole model. ISTR the questions only allowed binary answers, with no greyscales, maybe or depends allowed. This will damage the data being captured. Then the results are classified in binary terms as well. You can be one notch away from the middle in a category but get lumped in the same box as someone right off the scale at one end. If near the middle it is best to look at the characteristics of the other side of the line.

Despite this, I was very surprised at the apparent accuracy of the results.

copy of a report/study that was similar to what I was doing at the time. Made sense to me, to leverage the work throughout the organization.

Got word back through my boss at how shocking it was that such a lowly person would dare step foot on those hallowed carpets.

I was talking with his secretary ffs! Not breaking in on his meetings :shakeandthenbanghead:

That's when I realized that there were aspects to corporate culture that would ever elude me.

once I reached a certain level and in hindsight, they managed me per recommendations on this.

The trouble, of course, was that I was very close to a J, and at work when you're not free to be me, I acted like a J, so I was being mismanaged imo.
