Consensus establishment liberalism, I'd call it. A contemporary rulilng elite with centre-left priorities, and basically a style-sheet of permitted opinions on certain matters of, for example, geopolitics and environment.

It's not a fuggin conspiracy, but it is group think. According to one former newsreader, the only newspaper ever in the newsroom was the Gruan.

tower or another. Anyone who's been in a University in the last 40 years knows they're champagne socialist hell holes.

For an organisation of sleeper cell trotskyites they are a bit to fond of flag, church, queen and anthem if you ask me.

If anything I find their output, fours BBC and Radio aside, to be dumbed down, over patriotic and unquestioning.

Are all universities "champagne socialist hell holes" or is it just the metropolitan ones?

..that did a better job of illustrating your prejudices than the point.

It's the little things that make you special, D.

Also, how would that impact on the public service agenda? I watch a fair bit of Channel 4 and the stuff that they include in their 'factual' and 'public service' stuff is utterly laughable.

There were more complaints (not by much perhaps showing that the much maligned Beeb was fairly even handed) about the coverage being too pro-Thatcher than there were about it being too anti.

And roughly the same number simply complaining that there had been too much.

Firstly, get a job. And secondly, I'm sure they all refer to themselves as "liberals" or "progressives" but essentially they're just after other peoples money which makes them socialists in my book. And yes, there is more then a fair share of these at Oxford and Cambridge.

It really is no tin-hat conspiracy theory to say that our university system is incredibly left-wing. It just is.
