View Full Version : Was our defence really that resilient against West Brom?

It looked to me more like a case of the Baggies missing chances rather than any great defending on our part that gave us the 3 points.Although if Ramsey had not missed a sitter earlier, then it may have made things a bit easier for the ten men left, after Mertesacker's kamikaze red card effort.
The spuds defense doesn't look that great either though - and I can't see them winning all of their games.
Much is being made of our so called easy run-in, but a glance at the results , regarding the same games played last season, suggests ,taking account of us having had a better team then - that these games might be a bit trickier than some of our OTT optimists are claiming.

Norwich.H. Drew. 3-3
Everton. H.W.1-0
Fulham. A. L.2-1
United.H. L. 2-1
QPR.A. L.2-1
Wigan.H. L.2-1
Newcastle. A. Drew. 0-0.

The Everton game in hand looks crucial ,if we win it then we must be favorites for 4th place . If not then it could be a close run thing.

I suspect that we will need to improve a bit though on the defending side of things ,we don't need to win every game, a point will do in some of them.
