I still can't really get exercised about it.

There are several reasons for this:
1/ Korea's absolutely miles away
2/ I don't even know any Koreans and Park Ju Yung has put me right off them, apart from...
3/ ...Kim Jong Un, who I think is just adorable. He can initiate a nuclear exchange with me anyday.

Or would they have to go over there and f**k about for 10 years?

happened, the Chinese poured across the Yalu River and inflicted one of the worst military defeats the US has ever suffered, driving them all the way back to the 38th Parallel.

Equally, China's unlikely to be awfully keen on the US lobbing nukes about near their border. Airstrikes would seem the most feasible military option, but China would have to be on board with that.

debt and exporting cheap manufactured goods to the west. A war would be awfully bad news for China.

for them. So yes, they are p*ssed off with NK. However, NK is still a very useful buffer state for them and they certainly don't want it to disappear.

Sadly, the most likely result is therefore some sort of pansy-ass, Chinese-brokered peace deal :-( Booooooooorinnnng!

rather than take on the Americas - sort of say we'll look after our backyard thank you very much. Highly unlikely but as you say any conflict involving the US in NK isn't in their interests

costly undertaking than the Chinese would be happy with at the moment.
