Arsenal Look to Bring in Italian International Goalscorer

Arsenal will be finishing yet another season without a trophy, which is putting a lot of pressure on manager Arsene Wenger. There have been several calls from Arsenal fans, the majority of whom have been supportive of Wenger, for the board to consider a change in the management. Wenger believes that he is now at a point when the club should buy experienced and quality players if they can come close to achieving success after eight years.

According to Caught Offside, the Gunners boss has identified several transfer targets like AC Milan striker Giampaolo Pazzini to provide competition to the likes of Oliver Giroud and Lukas Podolski. Wenger is thought to be unconvinced by the duo, as they have been unable to score on a consistent basis like Robin van Persie.

Pazzini arrived at AC Milan from their archrivals Inter Milan in a swap deal only in the summer, but he is thought to be frustrated recently at the lack of regular first-team opportunities. The arrival of Mario Balotelli has reduced his first-team opportunities.

The 28-year-old has played for the likes of Fiorentina, Sampdoria, and Atlanta. However, he could be set for a move away from Italian football for the first time if Arsenal come in with an official offer. Balotelli and Stephan El Shaarawy are seen as the starters for Milan, while Pazzini is fighting against the likes of Niang and Robinho for first-team opportunities.

Despite this, he has managed to score 13 goals this season. Even with the possibility of being only a substitute, Pazzini would be happy at the San Siro given that the club are likely to be involved in the Champions League next season.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are in a fight with Chelsea and Tottenham to finish in the top four. Pazzini’s arrival at the Emirates stadium could largely depend if Arsenal qualify for the Champions League or not.
