The ones that say "I thought I needed a picture here but basically I'm so clueless and empty inside that some pebbles or a London Bus will basically do"

managers without having to go to the trouble of actually building anything.

Or indeed any person that has to speak with the media on the regular and frequent basis that managers do.

Must admit I don't like Rodgers, for some reasons a few of his immediate press conferences when he got the Liverpool job marked him out as a bit of a c**t. Then there is his son the sex case.

Not sure I see him as a laughing stock all the same. He's done an okay job.

If for example Wenger said that in his intellectual voice with foreign accent it would be lapped up by many (on here and in the wider Arsenal family), it would be held up as the type of comment which makes him different to all other managers.

BR says it and is lampooned.

players or managers. Low cunning is fine - as long as it's delivered with a Glaswegian growl or similar, but anything that suggests someone's actually thought about what they're going to say is instantly derided by the (largely middle class) football journalists.

a certain amount of articulacy from his sort. Only a certain amount, though.

The sophosticated, intelligent frenchman against the drunken, ranting scot.

I remember him pointing out that he had a teenage player who spoke five languages :-)

At the moment he's ripe pickings because he's "trying" and not yet perceived to be successful.
