Sturridge gave them a lift before he got injured and Coutinho and Suarez are in good form. I think they'll win on Sunday.

They could stick a run of wins together and be right up with us in that unseemly scrap for 4th.

I am led to believe they have been playing quite well since the advent of the new year. Could of course be relative to their form of 2011 of course.

Think the time may be upon us to reluctantly admit that Spurs are probably a better side than we’ve given them credit for up to now. Going to Anfield isn’t perhaps what it once was. Spurs biggest issue now could be the Thursday night thing.

If he won that and got CL football next season he’d be a f**king hero on a scale not seen since Bill Nicholson. He would also have something tangible to grow on for next season.

I’ve no real idea if they have the squad to do it as in general my knowledge on the depth of Spurs squad is slim, but as a general rule I think all this *******s or prioritising one competition over another to be frankly *******s. Deal with the next game and then move onto the one after that. We made a right royal *******s of it in the FA Cup after all.

Of course he could make a balls of both, which would be funny.

is fatigued. And you have Blackburn home in the FA Cup followed by Bayern in the CL in midweek, and you know the only way to ensure Wilshere is in peak condition for Bayern is to rest him for Blackburn, what do you do?

b) make CL
c) finish 3rd

Odd bunch

If the player says he fancies it and he is ready, then you must play him.

practicality. I just find it disrespectful. To our own football club, above all.

Fatigue of course you have a decision to make but then once could ask about how the player has got to the point of such serious fatiuge in the first place.

Our Blackburn side for example showed 4/5 changes from what most people would perceive to be a normal starting 11. If all 5 players were in the so called red zone then perhaps earlier or more frequent use of back up players would have been prudent.

Now having said that the team selection for Blackburn should still have been more than capable of winning that day.

Let's be honest, if they make a balls of it now they will be a complete laughing stock.

I can kind of understand your mate's fear here but from AVB's point of view to deliver both would be a serious achievement.

In terms of the UEFA I have no idea what stage of the thing they're at.

It could just mean they are that bit fresher for not playing against B'burn.

just as we're pushing for that crucial goal to keep us in the tie?

Flip side is we do not know for a fact that involvement on the saturday would have resulted in a deterioration in performance v Munich.

We both understand though, that it really all depends on whether you get the result you wanted or not.

Not bench as you and I know it of course, substitutes.

Unless of course your substitutes are largely gash.

or he could be knackered to buggery and still find the reserves for an influential 90 minutes.

I guess making a judgement on when to rest a player comes from the experience of observing players on a day-to-day basis year after year.

I don't know; surely if mere numberwallahs could do the job just we'd hire them instead. Cheaper, for a start.

Isn't tiredness something you only suffer from when (because?) you're struggling, rather than being the reason for you struggling?

I'm almost certain that's how managers look at it anyway.
Especially if the games are important.

Now you're going to find me an example of a football manager saying "Our statman won us the game today", I suppose.

refer to as the 'red zone'.

Hence you can't trust the player's judgement. Especially one as enthusiastic as Jack.

redgunamo

which is why you simply can't trust them. But, at the same time, you have no choice but to trust them. Otherwise there'll be no trust.

If you follow.
