the phrase ironically (assuming they know the meaning of irony) are deluded or plain ignorant.

albeit his European Cup finals are bettered by Mee and GG, but he's never had the success that the club enjoyed in the 30s during the Chapman /Allison era. AFC dominated that era with back to back title wins.
Also Wenger fell off the moral pedestal that he was standing on after that tatty affair with the French rapper was exposed .
I don't think that he's ever looked like the same man since that incident.

about our murky past you will get allegations of match-fixing in the golden era of the 30's and the least said about how we got to the top division the better...

but Chapman and Allison were not involved in those long-ago shenanigans.
Anyway,it's not even arguable that the Chapman era, in which we dominated football in this country , and became world famous, was not our most successful period historically.
So how, as you claimed, can Wenger be the greatest ever manager of AFC?
Leaving aside the moral equations ,it's obvious that it's your sums that are not adding up.

Allison (who had a good deputy in Shaw).

were the greatest moments in my time supporting Arsenal.
We had won nothing for years and lived in the shadow of the spuds double season ,two losing LC finals didn't help much either.
The first new manager who comes along in the future - and wins two titles back to back - will be hailed by supporters as being the greatest ever.
I think it could be a long while though before that happens.

point is simply that even Sir Herbert didn't win as many trophies even if he achieved dominance for an all-too brief period. if he hadn't died who knows?

Those who want Wenger to leave may have a valid opinion, those who deny his achievements are simply blockheads.
