squad wise we aren't bad. We certainly shouldn't be 5th, 7 points behind spurs. We just do not know how to defend as a team and that is a failing of the manager/coaching staff. We are probably 5 players short of a team that can challenge for the title. Unless we work out how to defend as a team, it won't matter how many players we buy.

That's what was particularly galling for me about yesterday, for the first 30 odd minutes we did & were pressing them all over the pitch like Munich did against us. However we couldn't manage to keep it up for a whole half never mind the whole game, it was so frustrating.

but we did very little with it, in the final third. We got down the right so many times but the final ball was very poor.

We defended well for half an hour. Bale was totally nullified and couldn't get any of the ball. When he did he was under pressure and lost it. At this level half an hour isn't enough, clearly.

As for us, the last half an hour was very disappointing. We just kept hoofing it long and giving it away.

Given the rife negativity. I agree 100% with your two main themes. Defending as a team seems to be a forgotten art. We also need somewhere between 1 and 5 players of higher quality.
