View Full Version : Anyone ever done a walking holiday in Andalusia, Spain? Going in May for some mountain walking and
then down the coast to either Marbella or Puerto Banus before flying from Malaga to Ibiza for some of the opening parties.
Any tips for the Marbella/Puerto Banus part and/or the mountain segment? I'd be looking to stay in either Gaucin or Grazalema when in the mountains.

1) Ensure that you are fully trained for this, I am of course assuming you'll do around 15 miles / day, ish
2) Have the right gear (i.e. shoes, clothing, walking stick), only what you really need i.e. minimum weight plus ensure you always have enough water with you
3) Book hotels in advance
used to it and my parents are members of Walking World.com which has many step by step walks.
Have you walked the region before?
Oh, and I don't have a walking stick but I've climbed some serious mountains in Europe without one/two.

My gf is from Marbella, shout if you want any more info.
I am hiring a car, mind you. How long would it take on the motorway from Malaga - Cadiz?

too far wrong.
I'm only in Marbs for two nights before Ibiza anyway. I assume it's just going to be best for relaxing after the mountain hiking before the lash of Ibiza occurs.
I'm actually doing this whole trip with my bit of skirt. Not really sure how the Ibiza bit will work http://www.awimb.com/images/smiley_icons/ohwell.gif

Did 350 miles over 13 days, had every up and down you can imagine and can't wait to do it again
But the most rewarding part was to raise £5,000 for charity
Walking sticks are not a must but can be useful when walking down mountains

Going to DC-10's opening party on Monday 27th May. I'm hoping for Jamie Jones and Seth Troxler who closed DC-10 in October. :cloud9:

I've never done Verbier. I've done Val d'isere, Tignes and Meribel three times.
I'm more used to the Swiss Alps, though. My parents are lucky enough to have a chalet in Davos so I go there nearly every winter. Good skiing!
