or even Man City when asked if we could catch Tottenham. Fair enough answer imo.

Something along the lines of, - remaining focused, ( he likes that word )taking each game as it comes and seeing where we end up at the end of the season.

The rest as we know, is an irrelevance.

it's not like they're gonna be like "Yeah, the boss says we can finish above man city! Let's not take the spurs game seriously because it's not all about finishing above them anymore, it's about finishing above man city!

out of context. In saying that I'm not convinced we will finish 4th let alone 2nd!

I have absolutely zero interest in 99% of things he says.

We all realise the media love to kick a chap when he's down but in this instance, he can avoid the headline by not playing into their hands.

But just imagine the derisory sneering that would take place on this site if Steve Clarke or Brendan Rogers started making noises about overhauling Arsenal, between now and the end of the season, based upon a mathematical possibility...

All I'm saying and please accept I'm getting a tad bored with the overall thread now, is that the old ******* could chose his words a bit more wisely these days, when replying to these bait laden piranhas.

out that Chelsea are in the mix for the CL places battle - we are only 2 points behind them after all. The Man City part was very much of a "they're not safe for 2nd".

The fact is that the papers will make **** up regardless of what he says, so why shouldn't he simply be truthful?

You started the thread, so you can't get all growly about it when people respond :-)

Two Spud and One Villa fan have already attempted a feeble wind up, due to that headline in the last hour and I've no doubt the drive home radio and back pages will be pileing in later.
As you say. No one's interested in going beyond the first paragraph.
