Meanwhile, Arsenal have scored the same amount of goals so far this season as at the same stage of the Invincibles season.

Seems odd that such an utterly shambolic defence with no defensive midfielder protecting it and a generally demotivated team under a hasbeen manager could retain such strong statistics.

The third placed team being bankrolled for years by

And assists for that matter.

As we've added cazorla's goals too.

Are a load of *******s...they can be twisted and used in any way to suit an arguement.Maybe the current team now has more possession of th ball and that alone gives the opposition less chance to score.the 04 team had far more cut and thrust to it, and could score with 2 touches

The fact i'm suggesting it reveals is hardly contentious

There is a feeling that defending is generally poorer in the PL now than in the past. Perhaps someone could spod-up some numbers with which to test this hypothesis.

If this goal inflation could be proved, it would show that the Invincibles goals were more valuable, which would make sense seeing as we were, by consensus, a bloody good side back then.

that's why i said possibly, you don't have to be so defensive over anything you see as possibly anti-arsenal. I do believe we would have been in the title race with rvp it's a shame he left

how can you say that? he proved last season he can make goals from nothing

it does make you wonder where we would be with rvp still in the team, shame we will never know but as you say selling him to united definitely handed them the title i don't think there can be any debate on that point.

i think giroud has missed goals that rvp would have taken, we will never know but i think any sane person would believe we would have been better off with rvp than without, i definitely think we would be infront of chelsea and spurs now but then i truly believe we will end up infront of them anyway by the end of the season.

he owed arsene and arsenal far more respect than he showed at the end but he will have a premiership medal and will use that to justify his leaving.

contract, this year and he would have been a player that didn't want to be there hence, he would not have done as well. I bet he would have had a few niggling injuries all through the season.

he would have still been in the shop window and one thing rvp has is the mind of a winner, i think your wrong to say he would have coasted but i still think he would have left at the end of the season so i understand he had to be sold.

everyone already knew what he could do. Man City paid £25M for Adebayor, even though he was f**kin dreadful in his last season with us. And being free, RvP would have still got many offers to join top clubs. the only negative factor would have been his age.

imo, he certainly would not have been as good for us, as he was for his last 18 months with us.

Everyone is **** at defending now :-)
