Earlier in the season the decision to move him there was largely being lauded as tactical genius. One could perhaps question the balance in midfield but largely Arteta has been a solid and reliable performer.

Song was hardly flawless, like many players he is one whose star has risen in his absence.

You are also overlooking the fact that Song didn’t play ‘that role’ last season as some reports suggest he did not want to, others suggest he was not asked to as he moved more forward and every now and then did that killer pass to RvP.
