first year of the contract or all of the contract? Because £70m ain't going to go very far if we're looking to buy top top quality.

That's even if we have £70m of course....

everytime we are in for a decent player Chelsea or Man City out bid us on either wages or fee or both, which leaves us after the same players the likes of Newcastle & West Ham are after & that is how we end all up the chamakh without a paddle

Spending because it is counted in your wage bill each year and is part pf the budget. If you include wages and signing on bonuses, how much did we just spend re-signing the british lads and then theo? Loads...so we have spent loads then!

After 8 years it would be frankly ludicrous to expect a major shift in activity now. Believe it when you see it, and not a minute before.

I am already thinking in terms of the lower costs/f**k 4th place and the champions league approach. Lets just be a top ten club for a few years and try and win a domestic cup. Everton, basically. One day the debt will be gone and we may get an owner that wants to own a football club.

income from sponsorship, TV money and these factors change why is it ludicrous to think that spending habits change? If anything it is logical.

Though I think Wenger has shown you can get pretty decent ones.

inflation. I think it is fair to suggest his spending has gone down in real terms over the years.

That was my point. It may well be logical to expect increased income to up spending but i wouldnt apply logic to this situation. We dont actually know wht the financial priorities are.
