View Full Version : Anyone see David Dein on sky last week? What does this bit mean

Referencing the “exploding revenue” once more, Purslow asks Dein why Arsenal were on the wrong side of the Robin Van Persie transfer when they themselves could comfortably afford both the transfer fee and the salary. Missing the simple answer ‘because the player wanted to leave and made sure he did’, Dein uncomfortably mumbles “well that’s another issue, too political for me to get into”.

I don't get how people can want Dein back, when he has tried to have his cake and eat it - at the cost of the club - making a fortune by selling his shares and trying to creep back into power, clinging onto the coattails of Usmanov.

THe man is a grade A c**t.

I doubt Wenger appreciates being told how to do his job by anyone.

He was equally peeved by suggestions from PV4 and TH14 in the past that we needed new star players and used to gently mention that the same policy would have meant that he would also not have been bought by Arsenal.

as for selling shares most of our board did that including our current Chairman. If you worked for Tesco would you be a c**t if you sold some of the shares you had bought or had been given?
I'd rahter David Dein than Gazidis any day of the week

so how is playing him there (in about 3 games so far) "caving in"?

Mainly because Dein was a supporter of our club, not an employee of it, and the rest of our board sold to Kroenke, not Usmanov (still hardly ideal).

A subtle reference perhaps to the rhyming slang which references his name. Or perhaps a complete coincidence.

If only there had been an attendant celebrity called Peter ********s.

You wouldn't shed a tear if Antrim got battered by An Dn would you. It's the natural order.

Last night served a purpose as to let us know where we genuinely stand in the pecking order of European football. We're miles from the top. My fear is that we could soon be huge miles from the top.

I don't know a distance based reference which is longer than a mile. A country mile perhaps.

Just that he lost the right to any warm feelings from us Arsenal supporters when he sold us out to an invisible American, and a loathesome Uzbek who I wish was invisible too.

I could have sworn buggery general loathesomeness were more the order of the day there :-)
