to treat him to the full immersive Emirates experience. I was amazed to find they were only serving hot dogs and tortillas. When did they stop doing pies, burgers, pizza, smoked salmon bagels, etc?

We went for the hot dog and it was one of the most unpleasant things I've ever eaten.
