Stoke are hardly the great-entertainers , but Arsene would sooner play them than a side that comes to take him on.
We huffed and puffed in open play but couldn't blow Pulis's neanderthals away. They offered no threat in attack and that helped our defence to look better than it usually does . Shame about our ability to turn possession into a goal.
Fortunately a deflected goal for us from a free-kick came to Wenger's rescue.
The glut of goals in 4 home games against ordinary opponents - who lacked a physical presence - and in spuds case played with 10 men for most of the game - help to hide the sparsity of the number of actual goals that we have scored overall in the league. United spread their ones around to better use.
Wenger's tactics are just too out-dated and predictable. I've more chance of winning the Tote place-pot at Doncaster today than he has of winning anything this season.
Sunderland away looks tricky with MoN's gang now in better shape than earlier in the season, albeit they still managed a 0-0 against us away .

You are the most depressingly negative poster ever to have darkened AWIMB's door.

Well done you.

However, painful though it is to concede it , I believe myself that Ferguson's tactics (or who ever) at United are a better way to play in the PL . With less passing and fannying around involved in getting the ball forward quicker.
There are plenty of coaches about these day who use continental style tactics, but although having less resources do well using them ,Laudrup at Swansea is one .
He might even win a trophy using those tactics , if he beats Bradford, in the League Cup final.
Wenger couldnt manage to beat Brum - who were relegated after their win against us in the LC final.
Wenger couldn't t beat Bradford either this season. In fact I don't think rthat he could beat an egg these days . What amuses me though are the claims by some that anyone pointing these things out must be on a wind-up,if only :-)

Man Utd struggled to get past Fulham on Saturday and also made a meal of the Southampton match. Yet you have praised Fergie's tactics to the skies.

Bottom line is that we are currently 6th and 4 points off third - yet "Wenger couldn't beat an egg these days". You're a plank.

can you remind us of how many trophies Wenger's tactics have us won since 2005,compared with Ferguson's duff ones?

...neither have Wengers. So the key differential is better players is it not!

It used to be like watching Brazil, now it's like watching paint dry.
I think we have had some good players and still have.
I also believe that it's possible that another manager could do better with the resources and players than what Wenger is doing.
The fact that Wenger is fighting against managers ( for 4th place) with a 40m or so less wage bill is one reason for my believing that he's not cutting the mustard (English or French) these days, and that it's time to wish him au revoir.
I predict that there will be a good many other supporters who will be echoing my sentiments come May.

We have more smaller technical players now . Although we were never long ball route one, we were certainly quicker and more direct prior to the Fabregas tika - taka revolution.
Wenger was forced to go route-one though recently by using Mertesacker in the big centre-forward role , and might have had to do so again, against Stoke, had we not had a bit of good fortune on a free-kick to break the tedious dead-lock.

We need to lower our sights a little when comparing this current side with others. How much better are they than ones that are ahead of us, or just below us, in the league?
We know that we are way off United these days.

...Ljungberg and Overmars who were the outlets for that 'direct' counterattacking style were irreplaceable because we did not have the funds. The players we had coming through like, for example, Fabregas didn't lend themselves to that style of play. If Wenger had the same resources available as Ferguson the last six years would have been different.

He's continued to do that even with Fabregas now back home to where the medals are won.
The problem for Wenger is that our players are not as good at playing keep ball as what Cesc and Messi ,etc, are.
A point that was conceded by Szc recently.
So again, I say a change of tactics is needed ,and a change of manager to go with it.

...there isn't a lot left. granted there have been poor choices, but don't forget, Ferguson who you admire greatly, spent £32m on Berbatov and a similarly high figure on Veron. The bottom line is, that when the market is inflated, as it has been, what you get for £10m is not that great and that has been the mark of player we could afford.

The proof is in the pudding as they say, and you don't have to spend a fortune to buy good players. IN FACT MANY OF THE PLAYERS THAT COST BIG MONEY FAIL TO LIVE UP TO THEIR PRICE TAG.
Torres to Chelsea,50m?
Wenger's given big wages to too many average players ,so why are you trying to pretend otherwise?
This is nothing to do with what they cost to buy. It's about his judgement.
