It's just......you know......did he HAVE to tell the world he's a good guy? And that has nothing to do with the actual money itself.Fair play to him but I have more respect for some poor **** fronting up a fiver on Children In Need night

In this respect he's not alone, granted, I just cant abide the semi-messianic adulation of the man.

I care little for his off-field activities, but nor do I begrudge him them either. He and his management have carved out for him a path that ensures he remains an iconic sporting figure until he dies, without compromising his legacy as a footballer.

Marilyn Monroe became an icon for being pretty and remembering to speak some lines infront of a camera

caviar, and then being offered the good, honest bangers and mash of top four, you now turn your nose up at the perfectly nourishing and tasty beans on toast that Msr Wenger is serving.

Finishing sixth means we are only two places from the CL - that has to be good....doesn't it?

are you saying that St Becks is a better player than the Barmy Bosnian?

Looking at that list, some would say Ibra is a footballing whore.

As I recall, and I may be wrong, he only won the league once at madrid - in a side containing zidane, raul and ronaldo, all better players - and even that was thanks to the wee spanish mummy's boy

and both fúcked off to footballing backwaters at a similar age despite still being capable of performing in one of the big leagues.

So to disparage one for being a sell-out and holding up the other as some kind of paragon of all that is right with football seems inconsistent.

And Ibra's roll-call of clubs does not necessarily speak well of his loyalty, whereas Becks's decision to never play for another English club is refreshing and commendable.

purely on football talent alone, rather than some Simon Fuller managed 'brand' contrivance.

been a mixture of his talent and his commercial appeal. Would Real have signed him had he looked like Igors Stepanovs? Possibly not.

But he was undeniably a world class player for several years. He wouldn't make anyone's list of the best players ever, but hat's probably because his attributes were not the type that gets thick football fans excited (speed, dribbling).

His whole game was based around hard work, whether that be ground covered in the game or practicing on the training ground, but beyond dead balls and crosses he was a thoroughly unremarkable player.
