Some bits are clearly written to be funny, and some are horrific insights into slavery.
I found it interesting how some of the audience in the cinema couldn't tell the difference.

When he does it at the big house, all the black ladies laugh. So obviously Samuel L took it one step further to impress his wife when he finally gets the chance to show a horse trick to her.
